This match’s all about serve and return of serve. Only 4 points that have more than 5 shots in this highlights, which is really rare in women’s tennis. That’s what I call “a boring match”. But I’m happy that Serena got through and Maria got her tennis back, which is good for womens tennis.

Serena easily has the greatest serve in women’s tennis history and is no doubt the greatest of her time and one of the greatest ever. Sharapova played a great match but it just wasn’t good enough.
This game made me sorry for Maria for losing but still happy for her confidence. I want the Sharapova Champion to be back again. >.>

but to be fair why be nice to Serena i mean she’s not a nice person herself,to be fair Maria is such a nicer person than her inside and out,and none of ye can change that…she keeps to herself all the time,never shows her horrid emotions on court NEVER EVER…i’ll say no more!!

Anyone that has to diss Sharapova after this match is an utter FOOOL….the match she put on against serena was unbelievable..and Maria CLEARLY should have taken that first set….if it wasn’t for Serenas serve on this day Maria CLEARLY would have beaten her…look at the backhand at 3:16 from Maria,that is absolutely AMAZING and she isn’t even at her best here!!! VAMOS MASHA YOU WILL GET YOUR REVENGE!!!
I agree that Sharapova is back. She played well at the French Open and Wimbledon, she just played great players. With the US Open series as practice, she should be in full form for the US Open. I want Venus, Serena, and Maria all at their best. That would be a great tournament!
Talk about a serve and return frenzy. I hated that Sharapova lost that first set but Serena was a beast and stuck it out when it counted. This is the best women’s match of Wimbledon 2010.
This was the best match I’ve seen Maria play since she came back Last year!!
And the good thing here was that she was playing against Serena at Wimbledon so it really gives me confidence that she is back for good and can make some damage in the tournaments to come!!

Although I’m a Sharapova fan, I totally agree with you. It’s kind of meaningless to dicuss those ‘if’s. Serena’s mental quality is so good that she could often ride out those difficult situtations, which makes a real champion.

@AFCompany i agree with u. in that second set the only difference really was one bad service game from maria 2 double faults and 2 errors and the rest of the set went on serve convincingly.the match up between them is the most intense on the tour in my opinion
I think that Sharapova is back, i just think she was playing Serena williams at wimbledon. She had the best score against her for the tournament and put up the biggest fight. Sharapova is deff back she just lost to serena williams in a slam which tends to happen to many people. I think she will be back in the top 10 at the end of the us open series. She is playing well you can’t take a loss to serena on grass and say i need a lot of work. Sharapova will get confidence that she hung in with her.

Serena looks in shape now! She lost a few pounds! Great effort from her!!
No disrespect to sharapova, but im not a fan of this shoulda coulda woulda thing, you ida do or ya dont, and she didnt convert the chances, serena was leading in the tiebrake, what about those chances? im just not a fan of those kinda thing no matter what player ur talking about, thats why i admire serena, no matter how many “chances” u get against her, it means nothing, cuz shell come on top. tennis is not just a physical game, its also mental, and ppl seem to not notice the value-_-

i think the real difference is that kim’s movement is much better than maria’s. but i liked what i saw from sash in this match. she’s coming on strong.
